The Artist

I happened upon this photograph as a child...
This image is one of my mother taken as a little girl. She and her sisters took turns dressing up in a party dress and posing beside the farmhouse she grew up in located in rural Tennessee. There is something about us girls and a dress that twirls. Sometimes you see something and you know your world is forever changed, for me I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up...

Even still, like most things in my life, I fell into photography backwards. I am blessed to have generations of artistic talent on my Father's side of the tree (sorry Mom) and in college indulged myself with art scholarships, a degree in Art History and more time logged into the art studio than imaginable. Taking good advice, I also received a degree in Business (thanks Mom). I set off with degrees in hand, still not certain of what I was meant to do now that the real world was at my doorstep. Soon after I found myself married a man more lively and passionate than I could have ever dreamed and a mother of a beautiful baby girl. I wanted to memorize every inch of her little fingers and soft curve of her face. I wanted to capture the fleeting time that she allowed me to sit and stare in awe of the miracle I was allowed to be a part of. Another hop, skip and a jump and our family was blessed with twin boys. Life went into hyper-speed and photography became my way of slowing each moment down. What I am able to record with my camera allows me the brief moment to take a breath and truly look at my study them and catch a glimpse of mischeiveousness in their eye or satisfied expression of being wrapped in love. Just a moment to capture a bit of their childhood. This is what I hope to capture for you, as well, with a moment stolen iand a few moments of childhood and the love your family shares together.
